The main objective of this article is to analyze the strategies that legitimize the change of a political-administrative institution in its maturity stage. Specifically, this case study focuses on the Sindicatura de Comptes of the Valencian Community, an autonomous oversight body that is mainly dedicated to the rendering of accounts and the control of economic-financial legality. To do this, we will start from the theory of the life cycle of the organization (Levitt, 1965) and the hypothesis that all institutions need legitimacy to stay in the field in which they exercise their skills. Among the results of this brief study, they highlight the need to make changes in their work routines and leadership, as well as in the symbolic aspects.
